LAUNCH OF THE FILM “STREET STORIES: GIRLS, GANGS AND REALITIES”
On Tuesday April 17th, the YWCA has officially launched its documentary film “Street Stories: Girls, Gangs and Realities” whose goal is to prevent the recruitment of young girls into street gangs for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
This documentary, and the animation tools and training that accompany it, are the result of the action research project “Tools for Effective Action” funded by the Ministère de la sécurité publique du Québec.
“Street Stories: Girls, Gangs and Realities” is an educational film acting as a lever to prevent the recruitment of young women (aged 12 and over) for the purpose of sexual exploitation by street gangs. Its main objective is to induce reflection and exchange between young people and raise awareness towards the realities of street gangs and sexual exploitation.
It also aims to educate the educators and youth agents of social services so that they are better equipped to intervene.
