Work-family balance programs within organizations:
Realistic or utopic?
Today, many women study and work concurrently in order to better their career and prior to planning for motherhood. Women hope to achieve their potential in the workplace and to simultaneously become perfect mothers. Is this possible? Is it necessary to choose a lower-ranking part-time job, with less hours and less responsibility? Or, must we accept that a career woman does not attend her eldest child’s school performance, hires a well suited nanny to look after her youngest child’s earache and thus does not have to worry (about anything else except those files sitting on your desk) between 9 am and 5 pm?
