Orientation and Services for Employment’s dynamic and experienced team is made up of professional guidance counsellors*, employment counsellors and other specialists.

OSE- Orientation and Services for Employment
OSE offers women who are ready to return to the workforce, a wide range of services which are adapted to their specific needs. Whether through individual orientation sessions or through employment research, the dynamic OSE team which is composed of professional guidance counselors and employment counsellors, effectively supports the participants. This program is offered free of charge* in collaboration with Emploi-Québec.

Job search technique workshops;
Individual sessions to personalize your search;
Documentation and Business Centre
Access to: computers, Internet, telephone, fax, photocopier, documentation about the job market and training.

Career counselling:

Individual consultations with guidance counsellors;
Career change guidance;
Psychometric testing and analysis;
Professional and educational information;
Documentation and Business Centre
Access to: computers, Internet, telephone, fax, photocopier, documentation about the job market and training;
Mentoring service.

Eligibility criteria:

Employment insurance recipients;
Employment assistance recipients;
Without income;
Resident of the Island of Montreal;
Able to understand and speak either French or English.

Private OSE (paid services)
Private OSE offers individual career counselling services given by professional guidance counsellors.

Services offered:

Individual meetings with certified guidance counsellors;
Career counselling;
Psychometric testing and analysis;
Identification of interests, skills and values;
Exploration of professional and educational opportunities;
Clarification of professional goals;
Development of a plan of action;
Job search assistance;
Assistance in writing and editing of CVs and cover letters;
Proven job search techniques such as calling employers and mastering the job interview.

The Single Mothers Program (est. 1996)
A turning point program for women

In order to help mothers in their job integration search, The Single MothersProgram is a 19-week group program which helps mothers integrate into the workforce by offering them workshops in self-awareness, career-orientation, and employment research.

A possibility to build your network of contacts!

In addition to school and company visits, our participants have the opportunity to benefit from a 4-6 week internship in an area that interests them and will provide them with recent working experience.

Services Offered:
French or English conversation workshops (10 workshops of 2 hours);
Basic computer skills course (8 workshops of 3 hours);
Documentation centre which contains references and books in order to help one’s career exploration and job search process.

Mentoring
Participants have the possibility to be paired with a woman working in a work sector or field that is of interest to her. The mentors will be able to share information about different aspects of their career profile.

Accompaniment
Each participant has the option of being paired with a volunteer, specially trained, to accompany them through the process of reintegrating into the workforce. The purpose of the accompaniment is to offer our participants support and encouragement through this transitional period in their lives.

Eligibility:

Parenting children aged under 21 (or under 25 if they are in school);
Receiving employment assistance, employment insurance, or is considered without income;
Live in Montreal;
Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident;
Be available from Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm for 19 weeks;
Be able to read and write in either French or English.

The first and only workforce integration enterprise for women in Quebec.

This program, offered by the YWCA MONTREAL, helps women who are having difficulty entering the workforce by providing training, personaized support and paid professional experience in a real-work setting, boutique Fringues & Cie!

Customer service;
Fashion trends;
Product display and window dressing;
Merchandise management;
Communication / promotion;
Internship.

Individual Coaching

Professional, personal and interpersonal action plan;
Follow-up on learned skills.

FRINGUES & CIE IS FOR WOMEN WHO ARE…

Unemployed;
Between the ages of 18 to 35;
Without a recognized college, university or specialized diploma;
Motivated and available to join the workforce;
Lacking significant work experience in Quebec;
Living in Montreal.
