5 Tips for a winning CV

Competition in the job market can be fierce. Here are 5 tips to improve your CV (Curriculum Vitae) and help you take your place in the professional marketplace.

1 . Make your CV short and to the point

Your CV must not exceed 2 pages. Aim ideally for one page. Employers are busy and do not have the time to read CVs that are 5 pages long. In only a few seconds, employers must be able to judge if your skills correspond to the job’s requirements.

2 . Give complete and truthful information

You must include your complete contact information at the beginning of your CV so that an employer can easily reach you. Do not lie about any information you include. If your future employer finds out, you could lose your credibility and even lose your job.

3 . List your information in a reverse chronological order

Always begin with your most recent information and work your way backwards. Managers are most interested in your recent experience and skill set. Remember that a potential employer is looking for the current state of your knowledge and transferable skills.

4 . Pay close attention to your spelling and grammer

Be sure to proofread your CV in order to verify that it doesn’t contain any spelling or grammar mistakes which might point to a lack of professionalism and care. Use simple language and if necessary have someone correct it who has good command of the language.

5 . Organize your cv into different sectionsastuces CV

Divide your CV into different sections to facilitate the employer’s reading and comprehension. Important sections include education, work experience, supplementary information (languages spoken and written, prizes received, software proficiency, etc.), your interests and references.
