Literacy learning at the YWCA is part of Community Services and is realized primarily through individualized tutoring and conversation groups.
Literacy tutoring (in French and in English) and Francisation tutoring is an individual learning experience between a tutor and a learner. Weekly sessions of between 1.5 and 4 hours are held, depending on the availability of both tutor and learner. Tutors specifically adapt their lessons plans to the needs of each learner.
The Literacy-Francisation team is composed of a coordinator and 25 tutors, active or waiting to be paired with a learner.
If you are interested in becoming a tutor or you know someone who could benefit from tutoring, please contact us at the coordinates below. This service is free of charge.
