At YWCA Montreal’s 148th annual general meeting, Eva Falk Pedersen was nominated as the organization’s new Chair of the Board of Directors. She is taking over from Louise Poirier, who was a board member for 10 years. She presided as Chair for eight of these years. In addition, three new administrators were nominated. Their expertise will be a valued contribution to the Board.
A Chair committed to promoting the YWCA Montreal’s mission
On the board of YWCA Montreal since 2016, and in the role of Vice Chair for the past five years, Eva Falk Pedersen is very familiar with the issues and the mission of the organization, over which she will now preside as Chair. She welcomes her term with enthusiasm and gratitude:
“My determination to diligently fulfil the mission that I have been entrusted with is matched only by the urgent needs of women and girls + throughout all of Montreal with respect to inclusion and equity. Moreover, in these difficult times, I firmly believe that it is possible to work together to fight violence against women. I would like to thank all the board members for the trust they have placed in me as well as the ongoing efforts of my predecessor, Louise Poirier.”
Three new administrators
The new Chair is pleased to announce that Mélinda Constant (Regional Director, Real Estate Investments, Industrial Alliance) will take her place as Vice Chair, and to welcome three new members to the board, namely Nathalie Sanon (head of the continuing education program in AI at IVADO) Émilie Therrien (lawyer, Therrien Couture Jolicoeur) and Marie-Claire Dumas (Senior Management and Strategic Planning Manager, former General Director, Concertation Montréal). Lastly, the executive board would also like to thank Kostia Pantazis for her 17-year commitment.
