Consent in 360°
Sexual consent is a complex, nuanced issue that is sometimes misunderstood. Yet it is at the heart of healthy, respectful, and equal relationships. Do You Know the Limit? was created to demystify this concept and spark meaningful reflection through an immersive and innovative approach.
Using 360° virtual reality headsets, participants are immersed in the perspective of a young woman experiencing a situation where sexual consent is brought into question. This immersion allows them to feel the emotions, discomfort, and grey areas that can arise, fostering lasting awareness.
Actors Sandrine Poirier‑Allard and Olivier Koomsatira portray two young people who meet in an apartment to work on a school project, a situation that seems ordinary at first but takes an unexpected turn.
The key messages covered
- Consent must be clear, enthusiastic, and mutual.
- It can be withdrawn at any time.
- No is a full sentence, justification is not necessary.
- The absence of refusal does not mean consent.
The experience is accompanied by a facilitated discussion, offering participants a safe space to share their perspectives, ask questions, and reflect together on best practices related to consent.
Modality
This project is designed for individuals aged 15 and up and can be hosted as a booth within your establishment. Participants first engage with the virtual reality experience, followed by a dynamic discussion, grounded in trauma informed practices. This approach helps deepen reflection, validate participants’ feelings, and provide clear and accurate information about consent.
The project is now offered as an all-inclusive workshop, with social pricing that helps support the YWCA Montreal’s prevention initiatives.
